Nutritional counseling and weight loss

Structured wellness coaching, customized dietary programs and functional nutrition plans, offered alongside chiropractic care because joints and muscles do not recover in isolation from the rest of the body.

Why nutrition belongs in a spine practice

Three things show up at the treatment table again and again. Extra body weight loads the lower back, hips and knees with every step, and losing even a modest amount reduces that load measurably. A diet heavy in processed food keeps the body in a low-grade inflammatory state that slows the healing of sprains, strains and irritated joints. And the patients who recover fastest are the ones sleeping, eating and moving well. Nutritional counseling here is aimed at those three things, not at a number on a scale.

What is offered

Structured wellness coaching

A series of scheduled sessions that set goals, track them and adjust. Coaching covers eating patterns, sleep, activity and the habits that keep people from following plans they already know. It works because of the follow-up, not the first conversation.

Customized dietary programs

An eating plan built around your preferences, schedule, cooking ability and any medical conditions, rather than a generic printout. Plans are written to be followed on a Midtown workday: what to order, what to keep at a desk, what to do when a day goes sideways. Weight loss programs set a realistic rate, usually one to two pounds a week, and build in maintenance from the start.

Functional nutrition plans

Plans aimed at a specific goal connected to your care: reducing inflammatory load during recovery from an injury, supporting bone health when osteopenia or osteoporosis is a concern, fueling a marathon training block, or managing energy and digestion. Supplements are recommended only when there is a clear reason, and you will be told the reason.

Who it is for

  • Patients whose back, hip or knee pain is made worse by extra weight.
  • People recovering from an injury who want to give healing every advantage.
  • Athletes who need fueling to match a training plan.
  • Anyone who has lost and regained weight on diets and wants structure and accountability instead of another diet.
  • Patients managing conditions where diet matters, in coordination with their medical doctor.

The first session

About an hour: a review of your health history, current eating and activity, goals and obstacles, and measurements if you want them tracked. You leave with a written starting plan and a follow-up date. Sessions can be scheduled on their own or added to chiropractic visits.

What to expect, honestly

There are no guaranteed results and no miracle products. Weight loss that lasts is slow, and the plan will say so. If you have diabetes, kidney disease, an eating disorder history, or are pregnant, the plan is coordinated with your physician. Nutritional counseling complements medical care; it does not replace it.
